- How does Siliconians products handle full-dulex and half-dulex mode of communication with one antenna?
Siliconians products use one pin for data-out and another pin for data-in. Hence, the RF module needs only one channel for tx and another channel for Rx. At the gate to antenna, these two channels are combined by a switch for time division duplex (TDD) operation. In full duplex mode, Tx and Rx are done in alternating time sequence automatically with fixed time frame. This method reduces the system cost.
- What kind of RF modulation methods are recommended for Siliconians products?
RF modulation methods recommended for Siliconians products are MSK, FSK or BPSK.
- Where do I get information about RF IC's?
In order to complete a wireless communication system, an Rf module is needed together with Siliconians basband chips. The heart of RF module is RF IC's. Because the technology of Rf IC design is different from that of digital IC, Siliconians does not carry RF IC's. - What does the reference design contain?
There reference design is a design of a demonstration kit which was first developed to demonstrate the features of Siliconians products to customers. Each kit contains a pair of WCM and other accessories for operation. Siliconians used to sell these kits to customers with charge. - How do I generate PN codes?
A PN code is a stream of binary bits that compliy with a set of mathematical requirement. Siliconians product manual decribe these requirments for PN code. Many text books on spread spectrum also explains these requirements. The source code of Siliconians reference design contains a set of PN code a user can use without modification for his/her programming. This would provide a good starting point.
- My engineering team is not available for DSSS design. How can I develop a system?
Since spread spectrum technology was introduced to commercial industry recently, experts with sufficent knowledge and experience in spread spectrum design are not common. In case you do not have internal resources to implement the design, Siliconians is willing to introduce several engineering design houses in the United States who have good knowledge in spread spectrum as well as Siliconians products.
